Mother And Child Premiere Brings About A Fashion Uproar
When the stars hit the red carpet for the Mother and Child Premiere in Hollywood on April 19, they may as well have been hitting the runway. For better or worse, stars like Amanda Seyfried and Kerry Washington made a definite splash with their wardrobe choices. From the beautiful dresses to the amazing shoes, the fashion was as much of a draw as the film at this premiere.
Kerry Washington stars in the film and dressed the part in her printed dress from designer J. Mendel. Sergio Rossi heels and golden clutch completed the look and were topped off by accessories that included a pink ring from Amrapali that stole the show. This ring was so large that observers could not help but comment on its beauty.
Amanda Seyfried does not appear in Mother And Child, but that did not stop her from making a splash on the red carpet at the premiere. Seyfried looked beautiful in a grey and purple silk dress from the Bodyamr Fall 2010 collection. However, a look at pictures from the Bodyamr runway show reveals that the exposed zipper Seyfried wore up front actually belonged at the back of the dress.
At the movie’s April 26 New York premiere, the fashion was just as eye opening. Actress Noami Watts, who stars in the film, sported a classic look. Her Stella McCartney cropped pants in black were paired with a black top containing lace accents. Heels and a clutch bag, both in black, complimented the outfit. Watts looked sleek, yet simple, and beautiful as always.
Kerry Washington made a follow-up appearance to her showing at the Hollywood premiere and caused quite a splash. Her black and lilac mini dress was sassy and highlighted her beauty. The Zac Posen design was altered from the runway version that sported sheer sleeves. Washington wore peep-toe heels and carried a black clutch to complete her outfit. One can only wait too see what she will pull off at the The Joneses Premiere.
Not to be outdone, the older stars of Mother And Child were just as fashionable as the youngsters. A the film’s Los Angeles premiere, Annette Bening highlighted her legs with a classic and stylish black pantsuit and sported husband Warren Beatty as her arm candy. Samuel L. Jackson looked very distinguished as usual and he brought his wife, the attractive Latanya Richardson.
All came out to view this film that emphasizes the importance of family by providing viewers with a glimpse into the lives of three women. A mother and daughter pair highlight the painful repercussions that adoption can have on a family. At the time, the mother was barely 14; she became pregnant and decided to give up her baby for adoption. She remains haunted by this difficult decision, though viewers can see that the now-grown daughter has done well for herself by becoming a lawyer. The third subject of the movie has just come to terms with the fact that she and her husband are unable to conceive a baby. This couple has decided to pursue adoption as an alternative.
The New York and Los Angeles Mother and Child Premiere exposed this touching movie to the most high profile actors in the world. It is certain that there were few dry eyes in the house. The stars did not disappoint when it came to fashion and the designs showcased left all of us holding our breaths for the next big movie premiere. Who Framed Roger Rabbit [VHS] $3.25 This zany, eye-popping, knee-slapping landmark in combining animation with live-action ingeniously makes that uneasy combination itself (and the history of Hollywood) its subject. Love Affair [VHS] $4.99 You can hear the big gears clank in this glossy, oh-so-watchable remake of the classic 1939 film (and the popular An Affair to Remember). Instead of updating the story with contemporary attitudes (as Warren Beatty did so successfully with Heaven Can Wait), this is a virtual carbon copy of the other films. The early scenes succeed as the two love birds (Beatty and real-life wife Annette Bening… |

Ishtar [VHS] $9.98 At the time of its release in 1987, this Elaine May production was bandied about as one of the worst films of the decade. It was nominated for three Razzie Awards that year–Worst Picture, Screenplay, Direction–but it still was not the nadir detractors claimed it to be. (Remember, that was the year Norman Mailer’s self-indulgence spilled all over the screen in Tough Guys Don’t Dance.) If this com… |

Dick Tracy $3.72 A flawed but stylish adaptation of the Chester Gould comic strip by director Warren Beatty, who also stars in the title role. The minimalist plot involves a battalion of baddies who confront the intrepid detective in a series of strung-together vignettes.
