What to do about people mispronouncing baby girl name Leighton?

So I’m really loving the name Leighton for my little girl but I want to make sure that people pronounce it lay ton not lee ton! Do you think this is a common mistake or do you think people automatically assume its lay ton just by the looks of the name? I’ve tried other spellings but nothing looks right and I don’t want to make it look awkward or made up. Any input would be great thanks!!

I pronounced it “lay-ton” when I read your question but I can definitely see how some people will say “lee-ton”. If you truly love it, your daughter will simply have to correct people. My name is Marcia (pronounced Marsha).. half the time I get “Marsha”, half the time I get “Mar-cee-uh”.. I simply correct people and move on.
