Widescreen Special

Is there a widescreen version of The Blair Witch Project?

Please do not comment on the film itself. I have the DVD “Special Edition” which says it’s FULLSCREEN and has been “formatted from it’s original version to fit your screen.” Wasn’t this fullscreen to begin with? Is there even a widescreen edition? And if so, wouldn’t the widescreen edition be formatted from it’s original version?

I don’t think so because it was filmed to look like camcorders, which don’t have widescreen formats.
